The
detractors of single arm (single-pole) dobson telescope consider that it is just an aditional
telescope, only usable with light oculars, that it vibrates and that the image
is not stable...
Now, it is
completely false.
Yes!! This
12" (300mm) travel newtonian telescope is planned for heavy eyepieces
associated with typical coma corrector paracorr fromTelevue. In more I use it
with one binocular from Televue associated with two Nikon NAV 17.5mm eyepieces, what is about 3.3 lb (1.5 kilos) on lightweight Feathertouch focuser
from Starlightinstruments. How it is possible? One of the secrets of the
success is the choice of a very stiff high balance point associated with an
only big altitude bearing. And naturally, we can use it with encoders and sky
commander able to locate and observe
celestial objects. Here, at Beille Plateau in Pyrenees mountains (the 7th november, Ariège - France). Thanks to Philippe for photography.
